The Car Wash II's Review

Wendy's parking lot - October 21, 2000

What I said the last time must have made a lot of VSA ladies upset! There wasn't a single one (a big, fat zero) showed up!!! Well, not until Ba?o Tra^n arrived after work at around 12:30 - 1:00 PM (I talked her out of taking off from work for this event at the last VSA meeting). I forgot that when dealing with the opposite sex, the honesty method isn't the way to go. Let me try again.

We only managed to make $255 this time. Just imagine how much more we could have made if the ladies were presented and took charge of the boys. Trung wanted to close shop at around 2:00 PM. But two more cars showed up ($18 worth) so we didn't manage to do so until 2:30 PM, which was a lot earlier than last time (around 4:00 - 4:30 PM). The boys (myself included) would probably willing to stay around for a lot longer (thus making a lot more money) if there were reasons for us to hang around for. I don't think I have to spell out what those reasons are <g>!

There were a lot of new faces showed up this week. There were three young ladies from West Charlotte High School: Trinh Doan, Tru'c Doan, and Thanh-Thu* Luong. Thu* was the 2nd person to show up after me. I remembered Quy`nh said that we would be starting to wash car at 10:00 AM. The main work force didn't show up until 10:17 AM. When I asked him about it, he backed the time to 11:00 AM instead. I can't really say anything about it because when it comes to being late, I am the master.

Other new faces included a lot of the older VSA and ex-VSA members. Among them were Qui, Khoa, Lua^n, and Hie^`n (They are the ones I knew the names of). They washed their own cars and paid for the privilege to do so generously! So*n (also known as Sonny) brought his car for us to wash and donated 20 o^? ba'nh mi` so we wouldn't have to spend hard earn cash to buy foods.

At the early stage of the event, a lot of us thought that it would be a bust because there were very few cars for us to wash. Luckily, it didn't stay that way for long. There were many times that we got 3, 4 cars to wash at the same time. I lost count of the number of cars that we washed. A lot was the only number I could think of! There were also a lot of happy customers as well. The cars got cleant much better than last time. I didn't have to do much of complaining or finger-pointing at the un-clean spots. The only exception was Lua^n's car. His car only got washed 95%. He was doing a lot of head shaking and finger pointing at the hood (which was only 50% washed for the discounted price of $20).

Everybody worked pretty hard at washing the car, including DDa.t. I guessed there wasn't anybody available for him to spend time on. I don't want to single DDa.t out because I would be doing the same thing if the right lady was around. This is one of those win/win, loose/loose situation. If the ladies were around, the men would work harder to try to impress them. On the other hand, they would also want to waste time (instead of working) with the ladies trying to score points. Again, I couldn't say much of anything about it because I has been "wasting" a lot of time lately <g>!

Everything went smoothly at this second outing. I worried about Tra`. At one point during the afternoon, he grabbed Trung's short and wouldn't let go for a long time. I didn't want to investigate too deeply into that! Also, at the end of the day, as he was counting the money, he had a wild, lusting look upon his face and his laught was kind of weird. He kept looking up at us and down at the money. Fortunately, he was OK afterward.

One last thing, as I drove off the Wendy's parking lot, I saw Vu~ driving toward it. I hoped that he was just in the area and not just showed up a little, tiny bit too late for this event. Any way, I would count Vu~ as being presented by just being near Wendy's parking lot.

Correction: we only made $205 on the previous car wash, not $250 like I thought.
