VSA Constitution

Article
I






Purpose
To promote and maintain the beneficial aspects of the culture and traditions of Vietnam.
To strengthen and perpetuate the unity of Vietnamese students at UNC-Charlotte.
To extend friendship to other clubs and organizations.
To exchange knowledge and help other Vietnamese students in education.
To assist and support Charlotte and nearby Vietnamese communities.

Meetings
The Association's regular meetings will be held once a month, when upon all members are required to attend. In addition, extra meetings can be called by the Executive when deemed necessary to carry out the Association's activities. Members are only required to attend fifty percent (50%) of theses particular meetings. In both cases, the time and location will be established by the Executive.

Membership
Requirements
The Vietnamese Students Association is open to all interested students.
The Vietnamese Students Association will not discriminate on the basis of sex, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability, or national origin.
Membership due is required each semester.

Officers
The Association's Executive consist of:

One President
One Vice President
One Secretary
One Treasurer
Article
V

Election of
Officers
Election of officers shall take place in March of every Spring Semester.
The President shall have the power to call Special Elections.
Election will either be by secret ballot or by majority vote.
Article
VI














Duties
of
Officers
The President
Shall conduct all the meetings.
Shall propose agenda for all the meetings.
Shall provide counsel and guidance to the officers of the Association.
Shall encourage and ensure the officers and the committees fulfill the duties.
Shall see the resolutions and directives of the Association are carried into effect.

The Vice President
Shall assist the President in every matter.
Shall, in the absence of the President, perform his/her duties.

The Secretary
Shall keep the minutes of all meetings.
Shall maintain records and documents of the Association.
Shall, at the end of each semester, produce a report on the Association's activities during the semester.

VII

Impeachment
Any officer can be removed from office by a two-third majority of the total membership. The officer in question must be informed of the impeachment proceedings at least two weeks prior to the date of the vote of impeachment.

Termination of
Membership
Any member who violates the Association's constitution will be terminated, base upon the majority of the body.

IX
Amendments
Depending upon the situation and demand of the Association, the Constitution of the Vietnamese Students Association at UNC-Charlotte may be revised with the consent of at least two-thirds of the body.

Parliamentary
Procedure
All meetings shall be conducted according to the rules in the Robert's Rules of Order, Revised.

XI

Budgeting
Finances will be proposed and voted on by the body as a whole.
