Soon afterward, it was time to eat. There were pizzas, drinks, and even some wings. If you enjoyed the foods that day, give two thumbs up for Giang & Kha'nh since they helped me getting the foods to the meeting. As usual, the pizzas and the wings disappeared at record speed! All that left at the end were few almost-empty bottles of soda! Tra` and Quy`nh did a good job of conducting the voting process. The nominees had to get out of the room while we voted secretly (if you considered closing one's eyes while raising one's hand as secret voting! Perhaps writing the name of the nominee on a piece of paper would be a better way). As usual, there were people nominated but for many reasons, couldn't accept the nomination. But overall, once nominated, the nominees accepted gracefully. Some nominees even had to step up and spoke in front of the members asking for votes. While nobody actually won any speech award for the effort but it took a lot of guts to speak out loud in front of everybody, even if many of them are friends! To those who got nominated but didn't get the job, considered yourself lucky :-)! As for those poor souls who have to work for us all of next school year (and even some of this school year), I have nothing to say except "gotcha" ;-). At the end of the meeting, the new and current officers got a chance to talk with each other. As I watched them going at it, I think VSA will be in great hands next school year. While the officers' average age is pretty young (around 20), they make up for the lack of experience with plenty of enthusiasms. I hope we as VSA members won't let them down by actively participating in all VSA activities and meetings next year. Good luck to the new officers! |
